About Mr. Hester & Mrs. McCormick

This year marks the fourth year at McNeil High School as the head director.  Prior to coming to Round Rock ISD, he served in Lamar Consolidated ISD.  He and his wife of 18 years have served several parishes, including St. Stephen’s, Beaumont, Emmanuel, Houston and currently St. Richard’s Episcopal, Round Rock.  They have 3 sons, Michael, Kristopher, & Brendan and one very special granddaughter, Kendall.

During his tenure at McNeil, the choir program has grown from 150 to nearly 300 students.  He is also repsonsible for instituting the first AP Music Theory program at McNeil.   Students have been successful at McNeil during Mr. Hester’s time at McNeil with 12 sweepstakes trophies in 3 years and 3 plaques for superior concert or sight-reading performances.  In addition, they were named the Best in Class and Overall Grand Champion at Seasons Music Festival.

Mr. Hester is always glad to meet parents and looks forwards to seeing you at all our concerts this year.

Mrs. Susan McCormick is in her second year at McNeil after serving for five years at Cedar Valley Middle School.  She is a native of Austin, graduating from Westlake High School and the University of Texas.  Susan and her husband Charlie have 5 children (in addition to our 275 here), Charlie Jr, Erin, Nick, Joyce and Emily.   Additionally, the McCormicks lived overseas in Germany for 3.5 years before planting their roots in Round Rock 7 years ago.

Mrs. McCormick is an outstanding musician and a much-sought after accompanist.  This program would not function without her incredible skill and dedication.  She also welcomes the chance to meet the parents at all concerts and functions this year.
